Hi, I'm Sardonac, many of you may remember me from such games as Myth, Myth 2, and Myth 3.

I've been busy this past year with loads of stuff, from family to classes I've got almost no free time for mything these days. Anyway, I thought it might be a coolish long-term project to compile/edit/create a level for each of the Nine or Fallen Lords. We already have a few Rabican maps, and certainly a few Alric ones, but no comprehensive ones for the other big-wigs. So I thought, just a few minutes ago, why not dedicate a map to something cool Murgen did? Or a map about the Watcher and Deciever's duels through the ages? Anyway, just throwing it out there.

(pssst, the Deciever and the Watcher series might be pretty badass. With each guy sending rather large armies against one another there could be a map where the Deciever was sure to lose the big, scripted, fight in the middle but a strickforce of mahir could try to sweep around the side and drive the Watcher off the map, thus freezing his entire horde. Or the Deciever alone (or with a friendly warlock or two) could be trying to pull a Gonan's bridge while the watcher raises dead all throughout the map to try and prevent the Deciever's retreat.)

As an early beta, how about:

- that big map that was really popular awhile back, I think it was called "wars of reckoning." It had a couple heroes, lots of guys, and a few respawn points I think.
- place a Deceiver and a Watcher along with accompanying armies
-- have those armies march to the centre and fight (nothing fancy for a beta)
- give some mahir to the Deciever's side which the player controls and set victory conditions as the Watcher dying

Sound good?

There is still no map that handles Rabicans Demise.

In flavour texts it says:

"He proved that a Fallen Lord could be defeated - by making Shiver the first of them to fall - then himself fell in battle against the Watcher's forces, which had to unleash their mightiest magics to best him."

Sunday November 30, Foothills of the Cloudspine

The enormous volcano overlooking Seven Gates is erupting for the first time in ten centuries. The tremors started late yesterday and since midnight there has been a constant rain of hot ash and fire. Even here, thirty miles away, it already feels like summer.

As if the mountain's fury were an ill omen, Rabican was encircled and crushed by the Watcher, who attacked by surprise from the west.

The survivors of this battle who have reached us speak of ribbons of fire tearing flesh from bone, and thick clouds of poison which rotted whole formations of men to pieces in moments. Our wizards were powerless to stop the carnage.

They also say that the pass of Seven Gates has become a raging river, fed by snow melting as the volcano heats the earth around it. The defenders who remained in the pass are surely drowned, and in a few days when the water is gone the pass will be open again, and undefended.

Rabican holds Myrdred back at Seven Gates, but the Tharsis erupts and Bahl'al unexpectedly attacks from the west.

Rabican falls.

Bahl'al rushes into the pass and fights Myrdred.

Maeldun, who had been defending Bagrada to the south moves north to take Seven Gates, when Bahl'al has gone into the east.

I´m wondering if a part of the Seven Gates map could be used, but I guess not.

...

As I understand it Rabican fell rather quickly, in a very spectacular battle.

I´m going to think about this some more, not sure how I would do this if I get around to it.

Got a bit of progress on this, but nothing significant yet.

So this is how I intend this to be:

First, only a large force of warriors and fir'bolg are visible, along with some Journeymen.
I am thinking around three hundred soldiers in all.
Then The Watcher along with his most pwerful servants appear, and rain death and destruction upon these soldiers.
This part will only take a few minutes.
Now Rabican and the rest of his force appears.
The Watcher continues his attack, and I intend to have the player so hard pressed that he will die in a few minutes unless he is brilliant.

In this way the map will differ much from Mazzarin's Demie VI, in that there is no build up to a climax at the end, there is just a short battle, a battle almost impossible to win.

I am also thinking about having maeldun appear, since it is stated in the text for Shadow Of The mountain that he did hurry to help Rabican, but was too late. Even though it is not stated just how much he was late I am ok with adding him, so that the player has a chance if he can survive long enough.
